This page contains a brief description of some of the active societies, groups, and organizations available at Our Lady of Grace Parish. At the moment this is only a partial list. The list will grow and become more comprehensive as the OLG web site grows. Check back often for updates. Adult Faith Formation:

Meets on Monday mornings 9:15 to 11:00 a.m. and Monday evenings 7:15 to 9:00 p.m.
An Adult Confirmation class is offered every year from February to May on Sunday mornings 9:00 to 10:15. Call Sr. Alyce Waters, RSM for more information at (619)469-4966

Alcoholics Anonymous:

Meets Wednesday evening at 7:30, Friday evening at 8:15 and Sunday evening 6:00 in the fieldhouse on the upper field behind the Rectory.

Baptism Seminar:

Meets the first Sunday of each month in the Knights of Columbus hall. Pre registration is needed; forms are available at the Rectory office.

Bereavement Ministry:

Meets the second and last Thursdays of each month in the Knights of Columbus hall at 4:30 p.m.

Bethesda:

A diocesan sponsored program with the department of marriage and family life.

Bingo:

Played every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Moloney Center and ends at 10:00 p.m. Meals and refreshments are available at modest prices. New players and volunteers are always welcome. Please call the Bingo office at (619)589-1590 for more information.

Blessed Sacrament Adoration:

Volunteers are always needed. Keys are available at the Rectory Office.

Blood Bank:

Volunteers are always needed. You can go to any San Diego Blood Bank and donate in the name of Our Lady of Grace Parish.

Charter Members:

Charter members have an annual reunion held in Lauerman Hall on the second Saturday in February with Mass at 5:30 p.m. preceding the event.

Child Care (Sunday morning Masses):

Child Care is offered in the nursery within the church at the 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday Masses.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word:

Held in Moloney Center for children grades 1 - 6 that attend the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Please contact the Rectory office at (619)469-0133 for more information.

Country Villa Nursing Home Volunteers:

Cub Scout Pack 951:

Meets weekly or BI-weekly and offers a variety of activities for boys grades 1 through 5 and serves the area of San Diego (San Carlos), El Cajon, La Mesa and Santee.

Cursillos in Christianity:

A program of Christian renewal open to married couples and single men and women. Meets most first Sundays of the month in Lauerman Hall with a potluck at 6:00 p.m followed by a meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Enthronement of the Sacred Heart:

Evangelization:

Filipino-American Families of OLG:

Meets once a month at various locations.

Girl Scouts:

Offers a rich program for girl’s ages 5 - 17. Volunteer adults work with the girls and are always needed. Please contact the Rectory office at (619)469-0133 for more information.

Interfaith Shelter Network:

Our Lady of Grace Parishioners participates in this annual event with a coalition of 100 churches in San Diego County.

Italian Catholic Federation Branch 340:

Meets the third Tuesday of each month in Moloney Center.

Knights of Columbus:

The Knights of Columbus are Catholic gentlemen committed to the exemplification of charity, unity, fraternity, patriotism, and defense of the priesthood.
All Catholic men 18 years and older are welcome to join our council. Boys ages 12 to 17 can join a Squires Circle, while wives and daughters may form sororities.

Legion of Mary-Our Lady Morning Star:

Meets Monday evenings at 7:00 in the Fireside room.

Liturgical Ministries:

A great way to become involved in the Parish. If you are interested in becoming an
Altar Server (girls and boys ages 10 or older), Minister of Hospitality, Lector or Eucharistic Minister please call Rosa Hilgeman at the Rectory office (619)469-0133.

Men for Christ:

Meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday’s in the Cenacle room from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Music Ministries:

Another great way to become involved in the Parish. We have a variety of choirs at OLG.
The 8:30am traditional choir rehearses Thursdays in Lauerman Hall 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
The 10:30am contemporary & traditional music, guitar- rehearses Thursdays 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
The 6:00pm contemporary (youth) & traditional music, guitar, piano rehearses Sundays from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m.

Our Lady of Grace School:

The school contains grades K through 8 with grades K through 5 self-contained and grades 6 through 8 departmentalized. Our Lady of Grace School is fully accredited by (WASC) Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Our Lady of Grace School PTG:

If you have a child enrolled at the school, you are automatically a member of the PTG (Parent Teacher Group). The PTG meets monthly to discuss school fundraising ideas and expenditures.

Pro-Life:

Religious Education:

Offers courses on a variety of days and evenings.

Preschool classes meet during the 8:30am and 10:30am masses on Sunday.

Grade school classes meet as follows:

  • Grades 1-5 Sunday 9:00 to 10:15 a.m.
  • Grades 1-6 Tuesday 4:00 to 5:15 p.m.
  • Grade 6 Tuesday 7:00 to 8:15 p.m.
  • Grades 1-5 Wednesday 4:00 to 5:15 p.m.
  • Junior High classes meet on Tuesday evenings 7:00 to 8:15 for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.

    High School and Confirmation classes are held Wednesday evenings 7:00 to 8:15 for those not attending Catholic high school and are interested in receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

    Religious Education-Special Education:

    Parents of children with special needs are asked to contact the Religious Education office at (619)466-5656 to discuss options viable for the child and parent.

    Remembering Church:

    A group who have come back to active participation in the church after 2 to 25 years. The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month in the Knights of Columbus Building.

    Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA):

    For adults who wish to become Catholic. The process is for Unbaptized persons who wish to become Catholic. Baptized Non-Catholics who wish to become Catholic, and Baptized Catholics who are not fully initiated into the Catholic Church through Confirmation and or Eucharist. Meets once a week on Wednesday or Thursday in the Knights of Columbus building from 7:30 to 9:00. Please call Sr. Alyce Waters, RSM at (619)469-4966 for more information.

    Rite of Christian Initiation for Children & Teens:

    A process to bring children and teens ages 7-18 into full initiation in the church. Meetings are once a week. Please call Sr. Alyce Waters, RSM at (619)469-4966 or Doris Hertzig at (619)466-5451 for more information.

    OLG Food Pantry:

    This is an organization which helps the needy people who live within the Parish boundaries with food assistance. The food pantry is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. For more information on how to help out this Parish organization please contact the Rectory office.

    Small Church Communities:

    Groups meet twice a month in homes, to share prayer, pray for the needs of each other and to support other members with our prayers. Please call the Rectory office for more information.

    The Parishioner:

    A quarterly parish newsletter. Anyone may submit articles and photos. For more information please call the Rectory office.

    Tuesday Club:

    A non-sectarian social club for men and women who play cards and 3-cent bingo on Tuesdays from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Members are 55 years of age or older and dues are $5.00 per year.

    Vacation Bible School:

    Offered to preschool and kindergarten children for 1 week in late July or early August from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Contact the Religious Education office at (619)466-5656 for more information.

    Youth and Young Adult Ministries:

    Junior High - Check back soon for more information.

    High School (New Life) meets after the Sunday 6:00 p.m. Mass in the Youth Room (Lauerman Hall) or Moloney Center.

    Young Adults (ages 18-30) is sponsored by Guardian Angels parish in Santee.
